Meet White Pube, The Gossip Girls of the Art World
All the Art Sheroes to brighten up your month
Feature 04 Apr 2020

Hey art squad! Need some positivity during difficult times? When the world feels like it’s being turned upside down, we could definitely do with some good vibes to make us feel a little better about the world. And what better way to make you smile than a list of super influential ladies?! Here’s our list of art world sheroes for March!

1. Emma Talbot @talbot.emma

Emma Talbot_theartgorgeous

Winner of the Max Mara Prize 2020, Emma is a true Art World Shero. We’ve been obsessed with her drawing-based style of painting, sculpture and textiles for ages! Talbot’s proposal for the prize included deeply rooted questions of power and attitudes towards women throughout history. We’re so excited to see the work Talbot produces in her time in Italy at Whitechapel Gallery next year. Certified Art Shero! We’re keeping an eye on Talbot’s work and you should too.

2. Alexi Marshall @aleximjmarshall

Irene Machetti_theartgorgeous

One of our absolute favourites! We’ve been following Alexi’s work for years. Alexi Marshall is a British born artist, whose work investigates womanhood, spirituality and sexuality. We are particularly obsessed with her large linocuts, taking inspiration from religion, femininity, ritualism and tarot. She will be showing with Object Relations next event on 14th March. An Art Shero, and definitely one to keep watching.

3.Gabrielle de la Puente and Zarina Muhammad, aka. The White Pube @thewhitepube

How have they achieved Art Shero status? Is this even a question! We LOVE The White Pube. Gabrielle and Zarina’s work is inspiring. The Gossip Girls of the Art World, we’ve been obsessed with the writings on The White Pube for years. We love how they lift the shroud from around the art world with satire, meme critiques and bad behaviour. Definite Art Sheroes here!

4. Makgati Molebatsi @makgatimolebatsi

Makgati Molebatsi_theartgorgeous

Makgati is a self-taught South African collector and advisor. She is a certified Art World Shero because of her genuine commitment to educating and cultivating black collectors. She says: “One thing I really wanted to see was a critical interest from the black community in acquiring art.”. You go girl!

Art World Sheroes for March 2020, with plenty more to come throughout the year, see you next time Gorgeous!
