As couture week kicks off in Paris, fashion week etiquette is in full force. Though you might not even realize, you could be doing many things wrong. Here are some quick tips to make sure you’re not making any fashion crimes at the world’s top fashion events.
Don’t ignore the weather reports
It’s over 30 degrees in Paris, so no need for that fun fur parka. The weather (not to mention the humidity) is real here, so pack light and stick with light fabrics. That said, keep in mind most runway shows are air conditioned, so bring along something to throw on while inside.
Don’t wait around for street style photographers to snap you
Get in your Uber and go off! Nothing looks more desperate than lingering around after a runway show desperately looking to be scene and herd. You’re busy and you got places to be, remember?
Get ready to pose if someone likes your style
Be polite, pose when asked to and move along, no need to overextend it and overstay your visit in front of the lens.
Don’t forget to eat
Many fashionistas party hop from one event to the next, forgetting to eat. Don’t forget to pit stop for actual meals in between the packed runway show schedule, which is available here.
Be sneaky with your celebrity snaps
Know all the social handles of the designers before the runway show begins
Be sure to get all of the designers’ Instagram and Twitter handles sorted before you take your seat, because that way you won’t be fumbling with your phone once the runway show begins. Once the lights go down, you’ll be ready to capture and go live with each runway look.
