Besides her PS1 installation of silver balls and her recently opened art museum in Tokyo, now the 89-year-old polka-dotted princess famed for her “Infinity Mirror” sensation on Instagram is releasing a new biopic called “Infinity.”
The documentary reveals the artist’s long journey to becoming an internationally-acclaimed legend since her early success in Japan in the 1950s, her time living in New York City, her battle with sexism and racism in the art world in the 1960s and her relationship to her mentor, Georgia O’Keeffe. “Kusama was creating work of equal importance,” says the narrator in the film’s trailer.
“Yet, she wasn’t getting the same backing”. Don’t miss the Kusama exhibition at London’s Victoria Miro gallery opening October 3 and the film launches September 7.
