News coming from the vaporetto’s survivors
A weekly wrap up of art, fashion and pop culture
News 29 Apr 2022

While you recover from the week of madness in Venise and put your feet in hot water while reading all the art news that comes out, this was what happened in the art and fashion world this week.

1. Anish Kapoor GALLERIE DELL’ACADEMIA

This exhibition was one of many added to the magic of Venice and the Biennale, definitely worth seeing at GALLERIE DELL’ACCADEMIA

Anish Kapoor presents the work of his seminal body from the first pigment sculptures 1000 Names and empty works, to never-before-seen sculptures created with Vantablack, an innovative nanotechnology material, a substance so dark that it absorbs more 99.8% of visible light.

It is clear that Anish is one of the artists who takes his work with extra care and matter, almost metaphysical levels, giving his sculptures that radical power. For this exhibition, he not only plays with the purity and power of red, but also takes us to other dimensions with his works in an almost three-dimensional black. A visit that will take you directly to other dimensions and will surely return you to our reality with deeper reflections of space, body and mind.

2. Light after the storm Sara Burton x Alexander Mcqueen

After experiencing days of intense rain in Venise, more than one left us with a strong reflection on how to face these times of transition. And what better way than with the spring/summer collection of the ALEXANDER MCQUEEN fashion house. The collection addresses the arrival of spring in the most poetic way possible, without losing the neo-punk DNA of the brand.

For the campaign the artist, Sophie Muller, joined Sara Burton, creating a waltz that makes us dream and feels the transition time where they seek to show the different personalities of the sky during the first passing from the storm, illuminated sky to the absolute white of the wonders sunny days that we are all looking forward to.

3. Floating Gondolas x Raffo VFW

With the help of Blender computer graphics software and the artist Raffo VFX the floating gondolas project was born, a virtual scene typical of the dreams space. If I already know, it is quite geeky but at the same time accessible if desired. Digital artists known for their projects in digital training and experts in digital projects with Blender really refresh the digital world in full madness of the biennial with this quite audacious digital work. And why not dream of Venice full of floating gondolas that sweetly invites us to remember this city full of art and culture in a very  original  form.

4. Lizzo and Harry Styles  @ Coachella  2022

Yes that’s how it is!!I do not forget the news from Coachella and what better way with the the body positive Queen, Lizzo, who made her triumphant appearance with a performance that by just seeing, will recharge your energy for the next few days. Coachella last Friday lighted up with Harry styles but with full of color was his guest, LIZZO, who sang the anthem of those who are broken but continue in the fight, Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”. A lot of feather, a lot of color, but above all, a message full of positive energy that is missing a lot in recent times.

Shania Twain previously joined Styles for covers of “Man! I feel like a Woman!” So, it is a fortuitous for the artist show up with two women who invite female empowerment and fill us with that energy that we all carry.
