Olive Allen Releases New NFT To Raise Environmental Awareness 

Olive Allen is famous for her UnBearable, a character who emerged last year as a symbol of climate change, looking at the viewer for connection and compassion. From Thursday, a new UnBearable NFT called Melting Away will be up for grabs through Foundation, reflecting the position of many polar bears whose habitats are literally melting away. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the World Wildlife Fund and “Restoration: Now or Never,” a public art exhibition organized by Anne Verhallen and Daria Borisova, in collaboration with SaveArtSpace. The buyer of the work will have their NFT displayed in a public exhibition spanning across London advertisement spaces in conjunction with World Environment Day in the UK. 

Paris Hilton Funds Project To Help Artists Mint NFTs

Ever heard of Tim Kang? Well, you’re probably going to hear a lot more about him because Kang – a software engineer and NFT collector – is teaming up with Paris Hilton to support artists mint NFTs through the Sevens Genesis Grant. Ms Hilton has donated to the fund and is set to fund the grant’s next show Empowered, read all about it via artnet.

Naomi And Mari Osaka Release NFTs

Tennis champ Naomi Osaka and her equally talented sister Mari have entered the NFT arena. In fact, the NFTs are a collection called The Colors of Naomi Osaka which were designed by Mari, but are signed by both sisters. The pieces sold via Basic.Space with the $600,000 raised going to Osaka’s foundation The Play Academy, which aims to empower girls through sports. 

Uffizi Gallery Sells Michelangelo NFT

Thought historical museums were all in the past? Think again, Florence’s Uffizi Gallery just sold an NFT of Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo for $170,000 to raise money after a difficult year for the cultural sector. And this wasn’t just a one-off event either, the museum is now on a mission to mint more masterpieces from its collection. We wonder whether other institutions will follow suit…

The Birkin Gets The NFT Treatment

Perhaps the most coveted item in fashion across the world, the Hermes Birkin bag has just been given the NFT treatment. Mason Rothschild and Eric Ramerez came together to make Baby Birkin, an NFT animation amplifying the image of a foetus throughout each stage of pregnancy onto the surface of the bag. Up for sale via Basic.Space, we’re interested to see how it fares.
