California dreaming. Aren’t we all California dreaming right now? (For those of you with the Mama’s and Papa’s track now playing in your head on repeat, here’s a link) We’ve all spent months indoors, and let’s be honest, there’s nothing we’d love more than to be at the beach. And while it might be a while for most of us, in the meantime, Alex Israel has released a new fragrance with Louis Vuitton that’s made up of Californian dreams.
Initially planned to launch at Coachella, Israel’s latest scent is inspired by the LA sky at dusk. “[It’s] a natural phenomenon that has somehow become more beautiful and life-affirming than ever these past few months”, he says on the gram, “For me, twilight offers a daily reminder to take deep breaths, to be kind to myself and to others, and that I must do my part to help preserve our planet and its incredible, vast beauty.”
Created with Louis Vuitton’s master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, there are actually four fragrances called California Dreaming, Sun Song, Cactus Garden and Afternoon Swim. The packaging is signature Israel, covered in pastel tones, cacti and waves.
“If you have the chance to encounter the fragrance”, he says, “I hope it makes you feel good.” And honestly, we really couldn’t ask for anything more right now.
