Art Stuff 24 May 2017

“Gifting flowers to New Yorkers is a simple idea that I have been thinking about for years,” Lewis Miller told Vogue.com when being asked about his pop-up flower flashes that suddenly appear in the early morning hours at random spots all over NYC. For this special flower installations, Miller uses flowers left over from clients orders or event decorations and before throwing them in his bin he beautifully installs them in public trash bins – but also around public art sculptures, office buildings or near department stores.

Miller and his team at Lewis Miller Design create these works of art in 10 minutes or less, and often do it before the sun is up — around 5:30 a.m. typically — leaving a simple chalk-based calling card that reads LMD (Lewis Miller Design) x NYC and gets washed away with the rain from the sidewalk.

They never broadcast where our next flash will be. maybe it might be outside your home or office very soon – or in L.A. or Miami in the near future..
