The Obama's Presidential Portraits Painted by These Fabulous Black Artists
Official unveiling is next month
Entertainment 14 Jan 2018

Obama's Presidential_theartgorgeous

On February 12, the National Portrait Gallery in Washington unveils two painted portraits, one of Barack Obama, which will be painted by Kehinde Wiley, and the portrait of Michelle Obama painted by Amy Sherald, a Baltimore artist who makes stylish portraits of black characters on gorgeous pastel backgrounds. She often brings eclectic personalities into the spotlight with retro vintage wear, from 1950s dresses to horn-rimmed glasses. The (yet to be unveiled) portrait of Obama has brought her a bit of celebrity status and is approached by strangers to sign autographs—which is “weird,” she said. “But this is everything that I’ve been working for my whole life.”
