Every two years, the Museum of Modern Art launches their ‘New Photography’ exhibition, which features the top 100 photographers at the moment. Among the highlights from this year’s forthcoming edition, Matthew Connor has taken over 20,000 photos in North Korea, from stylish portraits to chilling landscapes, which are shown alongside Ethiopian photographer Aïda Muluneh, who is showing stylish African traditions brought up to date with a pop palette and fashion-esque shoots. “I want to make Africa digestible in a different way, when people think about Africa right now, they often only think about animals, war, and famine,” she says. “I’m trying to distort that impression to provoke questions in a different sense.”Text: Nadja Sayej
