New York’s hottest nightclub has always been Studio 54, which drew the likes of Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, the Rolling Stones and basically, every celebrity under the sun.
Now, the club’s former co-founder Ian Schrager – famous for popularizing the boutique hotel- is opening a new nightclub, the Paradise Club. It’s in Times Square of all places (inside his new hotel, the Times Square Edition) and he thinks he can pull the culture vultures to the typically tourist-laden Midtown.
During the grand opening models like Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Cara Delevingne were in attendance, but that’s not where the star power ends. There’s an artsy, avant-garde show that the Brooklyn-based dance and theatre troupe, the House of Yes, who have a two-year residency there.
Expect a non-verbal dinner show that lasts two hours with intermittent soul songs with pop overtones (yes, even an opera-infused cover of Closer by Nine Inch Nails, as a ballet performance goes on), as well as a visual journey with constumes that takes visitors on a ride through heaven and hell and everything in between. Fittingly, the space has two murals on its main walls, which are inspired by Bosch.
It’s a wild ride and is best fit for locals, travelers and art enthusiasts who want to catch some of the best talents in New York City. Here are some photos of the House of Yes performing this past weekend for the first week of their residency at Paradise Club. Not to be missed!
