Picasso's Granddaughter Now Creates Lucky (And Pricey) Charms

Pablo Picasso’s granddaughter Diana Widmaier-Picasso is mainly known as an art historian, but did you know she is a jewellery designer, too?
At the end of 2017,  the brand called Menē, announced it had raised as much as $21 million in growth capital, and launched officially earlier this year with a cocktail party during couture week at the Gagosian Gallery in Paris. It is the brainchild of Roy Sebag, a co-founder of GoldMoney, the gold-based financial services company and Diana Widmaier Picasso, a granddaughter of Pablo Picasso who is the brand’s chief artistic officer.
Menē, named after the ancient Aramaic word for money (which was gold at the time), has even trademarked the phrase “investment jewelery” – not a surprising term given the founders backgrounds.
24 karat gold rings, necklaces and pendants that boast a creative plethora of subject matter, from zodiac sign charms to ‘I Heart U’ necklaces, lions heads and simple ring bands.

There’s a mystical secret in the affirmations on the necklace charms, words such as “anticipate”, “believe”, “expect”, “plan”, “intend”, “estimate”, “may”, “potential” and “will” are emblazoned on some of the pieces, which plant positive seeds for good outcomes.
