Greek Gods for Prada

Their friendship has pertained for years and this year marks a intriguing yet subversive collaboration between Miuccia Prada and the Berlin-based French artist Christophe Chemin to create amazing illustrations for the upcoming AW2016 collection – from Greek Gods to French Revolution to Noah’s Ark.

Tapped for the newest prints, Chemin plays with 16th-century tapestries and PlayStation games in part of the commission that the idea of immigration, famine, assassination, and pessimism revolves around mythic images depicting Che Guevara, Nina Simone, Hercules and more.
“The artwork was done from the beginning with the knowledge that it would end up being used on clothes,” Chemin says. “I don’t like the word “prints,” because they are not “prints” — they are artworks that I related to Miuccia’s visual universe and vocabulary, mixing very personal obsessions of mine with ideas that were directly inspired by her”, Chemin states.
