Artist Laurie Simmons (who also happens to be Lena Dunham’s mom) collaborated with New York magazine to revisit her artistic roots by placing the spring’s most sigh-inducing accessories (think Mondrian-inspired bags, Dior watches, and baubles of all shapes and sizes) atop showgirl-style legs in this incredible short film.
“I grew up in a household with three sisters, and I grew up in a community where there were girls whose mothers would buy them anything they wanted, and my mother just couldn’t do that. So I was always in a constant state of longing for clothes and shoes I couldn’t have,” she told New York’s Amy LaRocca in an accompanying essay. We, of course, know no other state of being than that of longing for beautiful things.
