Alexandra Fain Brings Edgy Contemporary Asian Art To Paris
See edgy Asian contemporary art during the week of FIAC in the French capital
Fempire 14 Oct 2019

Very likely we agree that Asia now is one of the most fast-rising art regions in the world while co-founder and director of ASIA NOW Paris Asian Art Fair, Alexandra Fain had this vision five years ago already to set up an art fair focused on Asian contemporary art. Let’s see what to expect at this edgy art fair taking place during the week of FIAC in the French capital.

Why should we book our ticket to Paris straight away?
ASIA NOW, the first European art fair focusing on Asia’s contemporary art scene, celebrates its 5th edition at 9 Avenue Hoche, Paris 8e from October 16–20!
Save the date for our Collectors Preview and Vernissage on October 15, at 2–6pm and 6–9pm respectively. Do not miss Cheng Ran’s performance on the 15 Octobre at 6pm, Tatoo Station.

Asia Now is not an art fair as most are. What is so special about it?
Like its host city, cosmopolitan and open, ASIA NOW is an intimate place for conversations and sharing between artists, gallerists, collectors, museums, foundations and artlovers.

Last question: 5 things to look forward to at the fair?

1 – This year’s curatorial programme IRL {In Real Life} Platform curated by X Zhu-Nowell, Assistant Curator at the Guggenheim Museum New York, celebrating emerging generation of artists who are digital natives and whose work critically engages with new media. Among the projects, Cheng Ran (award winner of the inaugural Nomura Emerging Artist Award 2019) will present a hand-picked selection of the works by the young artists of MARTIN GOYA BUSINESS, an alternative space that he founded in Hangzhou.

2 – A design project by Galleri Feldt (Copenhagen), featuring designers Hu Fang, Ma Shu, Yang Jun who create alternative, modular and multi-functional objects

3 – Lu Xun, co-founder of Sifang Art Museum (Nanjing), will present the museum’s residency programme “HUGE HUGE”

4 – City Pop by TOKYOITE (Paris, Tokyo) featuring five Japanese artists: Takeru Amano, Fantasista Uatamaro, Ly, Yoshinori Tanaka and Victor Takeru

5 – A day and night programme by Paris-based curators, Pierre-Alexandre Mateos and Charles Teyssou, to be held on Saturday 19 October, with a DJ set by Erwan Sene and Antonin Roux, and a DJ set by ShuShu, specially invited by the collective Nüshu
