Hello October!
This week brought us Paris Fashion Week and all its weird and wonderful looks. Top points for wackiness goes to Schiaparelli’s cone-bra denim jacket and Raf Simon’s collection of oversized shirts and jumpers that make it look like you’re wearing your dad’s clothes.
In other arty news, it’s been announced that a new, online museum dedicated to mobile phones will launch in November with support from Vodafone, with the promise of IRL events and pop-ups in the future.
In incredible news, on Wednesday it was announced that a malaria vaccine will be released in Africa, which has the potential to save countless lives across the continent. This is truly world-changing!
Remember to keep yourself safe and sane during the encroaching longer nights, and keep us up to date with any exciting art world things going on in your lives!
Hugs,

Art by Muhammad Ali Nearly Makes $1 million
26 artworks by the world-famous boxer were sold at Bonhams this week in New York. One work – ‘Sting Like a Bee’ – sold for over 10 times its estimate price, going for $425,000. The total sale price was three times more than expected ($945,524). Ali’s father was an artist and the sports star took lessons from LeRoy Neiman – he created his own artwork throughout his life.
Fancy Owning a Share of a Masterpiece?
This sounds a bit NFT-y but it’s not. This weeks it was announced that Masterworks – the blue-chip art investing community – has raised $110 million in order to support their work selling fractionalised shares in artworks by renowned artists. Do you want to own a small share in a Warhol, or perhaps a Kusama? Maybe give them a call, and you can earn on top of your investment when they sell those works on. Interesting.

New Sims 4 Packs Inspired by Indian and Korean Fashion Scene
Two new packs for Sims 4, called Fashion Street and Incheon Arrivals, contain fits for your Sim inspired by the fashion scenes of Mumbai and Seoul. We love the outfits on offer, and think it might be time to re-download the Sims after ignoring it for a year after the first lockdowns.
Loewe Readymade Shoe Collection
As seen on their Spring 2022 catwalk, Loewe have shown the world their collection of heels with readymade soles. From bars of soap, nail polish jars, and red roses, these unique additions give a quirky twist to the otherwise traditional strappy heel.

Contemporary Art Auctions at All-Time High
NFTs are told to have helped the comeback of auction sale totals since the disastrous collapse of 2020. Artprice have reported that auctions of contemporary art have brought in a record-breaking $2.7 billion this year. Another key driver, according to Artprice, was the growth of the Asian auction market.
First Ever Van Gogh Auctioned in the Far East
A painting of gladiolas by Van Gogh is heading off to Sotheby’s in Hong Kong to go under the hammer on October 9th. This work is the first of the artist’s to be auctioned in the Far East. It is thought, because the artwork is signed (something that Vincent rarely did), that the work was originally given by him to a friend.
