Yesterday a photo of Rihanna alias @badgirlriri flooded social media depicting the pop queen covered in clothes by fashion world’s wunderkind Virgil Abloh’s “Off-White” collection – in front of some art works. Especially the framed dollar note made the audience very curious trying to find out the artist behind. But still the artist is yet to be confirmed…
However it’s not the first time Rihanna showcases artists on her feed or is part of artworks herself.
We prepared a little Rihanna x art cheat sheet for you:
1. Roy Nachum
One of the first artists who got heavily pushed by Rihanna, is Israeli born Roy Nachum – the artist behind her ANTI Cover, depicting Rihanna as little girl wearing a crown and holding a black balloon. It was part of the his “Blind” series.

2. Jeff Koons
Last christmas, the singer was gifted with Koons’ “GOAT. Champs Edition”—a special edition of Koons’ Radial Champs sculpture with the addition of Taschen’s Muhammad Ali monograph by her creative director, Ciarra Pardo, and simply called the work “so sexy”.
3. Tagreed Albagshi
Rihanna previously broke the internet when pictures of her cuddling up to Saudi billionaire businessman Hassan Jameel appeared. Love seems to make the singer looking slightly more into art from Middle East and just a few weeks back, she highlighted a painting of Saudi artist Tagreed Albagshi.
4. Bijou Karman
Socks connected the pop queen to Los Angeles-based illustrator and artist Bijou Karman whom she reached out to with a proposal to illustrate her collaboration with Stance. Obviously, Karman accepted the assignment and provided the drawings for the limited edition, inspired by Japanese street style; e.g. a geisha-fied Rihanna resting in a traditional Kimono.
5. Juan Sebastián Peláez
Last year the singer was catching the art world’s attention in Berlin – as a sculpture of Colombian artist Juan Sebastián Peláez. The original picture of Rihanna was a holiday shot taken in Barbados in 2013 which Peláez blew up and placed a generic face onto the sculpture’s chest. The oversized piece has been on show at the Kunst-Werke Institute, Berlin during the time of the capitals Biennial.
Yep. That’s real. #BerlinBiennale
