Earthweb.com’s data showed that there are somewhere between 3.2- and 37.8 million influencers in the world. That’s somewhere between the total population of Wales and the population of Morocco! Whether it be TikTok, Youtube, Twitter, or Instagram – influencers are everywhere, and they have a real tangible effect on the content we consume and the products we buy.
The line between an ‘influencer’ and a ‘content creator’ is a blurred one. The general consensus is that influencers tend to have higher number of followers, their feed has more paid ads on, and their work is less likely to be niche-specific. Content creators are probably focussed in on one topic (maybe tech, freelancing, or history) and may be considered “micro” influencers with their follower count below 100k. Mega-influencers are hitting follower numbers over 1 million. Woah.
