Can you tell me about yourself and your connection to the art world?
Many things in my life were connected to creativity and I have always been surrounded by people who make art. When I did my BA in Fashion Communication, I used to attend design classes and stay up all night in the studio with my fellows who later went on to become stylists, designers and makers in the fashion and film industry. This has led to my interest in organising events and exhibitions to support the creative work of the people I met. Then the opportunity arose to curate a solo exhibition for Samee Sam as the associated project of the 2019 Le French May Festival in Hong Kong. After that, I started working in a leading contemporary art gallery as the project manager. Last year, I moved to London and completed a MA in Curating and Collection with Distinction at Chelsea College of Arts, UAL. Now, I hope to continue furthering the dialogue between the East and West through working with artists and archives globally.
What made you want to be a member of The Art Gorgeous HOUSE?
I have always appreciated the inclusiveness and accessibility that The Art Gorgeous HOUSE is trying to cultivate in its community. It has been difficult to make new friends and meet people when I moved to London during the Covid-19 pandemic. That has made me want to join the network of The Art Gorgegous I found Art Gorgeous HOUSE a friendly and safe space to connect with people who share a passion for all things fun and creative!
What Art Gorgeous House event moment have you enjoyed the most so far?
I have particularly enjoyed joining the ‘Women Artists in Highlights’ guided tour of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair London led by VIP Relations Manager, Paula De Almeida at the Somerset House. It was great to learn about the founding stories behind the team of nine women who run this international fair which dedicates to promoting diversity and contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora since 2013.
The next The Art Gorgeous HOUSE event in London: TAG x Art Laughs: An Art-Themed Comedy Night on Wednesday 17 November.
