An artist’s self-portrait is one thing, but an artist’s portrait of an another artist is often, next level.
The Staley Wise gallery in New York is hosting a group show called Portraits of Artists, which runs until December 1.

Expect to see David LaChapelle’s famed portrait of artist Kehinde Wiley titled ‘Most Perfect Work II’ alongside works made over the past century including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gilbert & George and Mary McCartney’s portrait shot of Tracey Emin as Frida Kahlo.

There are also portraits of Cindy Sherman, David Hockney, Jasper Johns and Ai Weiwei. Artist portraits will forever change the viewer, but also, the artists.
As Molly Moore, a pop artist in L.A., says: “I see myself through others eyes and I am made anew.”
