In one of Cindy Sherman`s images from her Harper’s Bazaar shoot, the artist appeared doubled as a Miu Miu-wearing fashionable twin fashion pair:
This might or might not have been the trigger for what Undercover’s Jun Takahashi turned to Sherman inspired collection at Paris Fashion Week showcased in the ballroom of the Grand Hotel.
Apparently, the designer met the artist a few years ago in a bar in Tokyo and they became good friends. Resulting from that friendship, some of Sherman`s work from her “Untitled” series created between 1977 and 1980, were incorporated in selected collection pieces.
The casted models walked the runway hand in hand – always twinning. Their outfits weren’t exact mirror images, but shared things in common: matching landscape motifs, identical necklines etc.
For the finale, Takahashi chose identical twins and dressed them in blue baby doll dresses that the doomed twins wear in the horror classic The Shining, one of the with long crystal-fringes…
While PFW is nearly over, Halloween is around the corner.
