Virgil Abloh Reveals Psychedelic Art Installations
A 12-story artwork celebrates the fashion house’s SS19 collection.

To commemorate the release of Virgil Abloh‘s Spring/Summer 2019 debut collection being inspired by the 1932 classic film The Wizard of Oz, Louis Vuitton has installed a psychedelic window installation at its New York 5th Avenue space.
Visitors to Luis Vuitton’s Fifth Avenue store in New York will notice a towering colourful addition to the building’s facade.

Marking the launch of Virgil Abloh’s debut SS19 collection as men’s artistic director for the brand, Louis Vuitton has installed a 12-storey-high ‘optical illusion’ in its windows showing a technicolour model standing inside a box.
“In the spirit of the collection, the windows consist of technicolor skies, fields of flowers and the yellow brick road. Additionally, an oversized, colorful figure stands inside the store creating an optical illusion that extends onto the street and throughout the store,” said the label in a statement.

An “X” sprayed on the street will mark the perfect location from where to see the surreal installation.

Over in Japan, things get even more surreal: a crouching version of the NYC artwork appears to burst through the floor of Tokyo’s Harajuku Station.
