The release of the Barbie movie resulted in a global shortage of the colour pink
During a recent interview with Architectural Digest, the director of the Barbie film, Greta Gerwig discussed the creation of Barbieland. When the conversation turned to paint, she humorously remarked, “the world run out of pink.” One reason for this scarcity can be attributed to Gerwig’s decision to abstain from employing computer-generated images in the movie’s sets. Instead, she chose hand-painted backdrops, offering a refreshing alternative to the overwhelming deluge of CGI commonly witnessed in Marvel productions throughout the year. In the interview, the filmmaker emphasized the importance of tactility, stating, “Everything needed to be tactile, because toys are, above all, things you touch,”.
