Welcome to the Friday Weekly Wrap-Up newsletter, where we explore the intersection of Art, Fashion, and Pop Culture.

Hot Dog in the City

In the heart of New York, artists Jen Catron and Paul Outlaw unveiled their colossal 65-foot-long hot dog sculpture this week titled: “Hot Dog in the City (2024).” At noon each day, the sculpture ascends into the sky on a hydraulic lift, showering the plaza with confetti from its top. This sculpture playfully celebrates and critiques America’s love affair with the iconic hot dog, reflecting on its dual role as a symbol of patriotic indulgence and the complexities of the meat industry and corporate culture.

This week we are eagerly anticipating the ultimate fashion event of the year as the annual Met Gala returns on May 6th! Held at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, this year’s gala revolves around the theme “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard’s eponymous short story. As attendees prepare to interpret this theme on the red carpet, excitement brews over the accompanying exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” promising a blend of art and fashion.

This week, Jacquemus revealed their latest masterpiece: a stunning new Paris office space blending art and fashion. Founder Simon Porte Jacquemus showcased the dreamy workspace on Instagram, featuring curated artworks such as a sculpture by Aristide Maillol. Nestled in Paris’ 8th arrondissement, I think no one will want to #WFH from now on in the company.
