Immerse Yourself in LA: A Visitor's Guide to Frieze LA and Beyond
Art Stuff 27 Feb 2024

If you’re in town for Frieze LA, you’re in for more than just an art fair. Los Angeles offers a myriad of experiences to complement your visit, from iconic landmarks to hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Here’s a guide on what to see and do while you’re in town for Frieze LA.

Frieze LA at Santa Monica Airport
First things first, immerse yourself in the art world at Frieze LA, returning to Santa Monica Airport from February 29 to March 3, 2024. This fifth edition of the fair will see an expansion of the signature Frieze tent designed by Kulapat Yantrasast’s architectural studio WHY and a reimagined outdoor space that features a program of site-specific artworks, public activations and sculpture, alongside pop-ups from renowned LA-based restaurants. Frieze LA will also bring together over 95 galleries from 21 countries, with nearly 50% of them operating in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Hike up Mount Hollywood
For breathtaking views of the city, lace up your walking boots and ascend Mount Hollywood. The trail offers not only a great workout but also panoramic vistas of the sprawling cityscape below, including the iconic Hollywood sign.

Hollywood Boulevard
Walk in the footsteps of stars along Hollywood Boulevard. From the Walk of Fame to the TCL Chinese Theatre, this iconic stretch embodies the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown.

Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach
Take a leisurely stroll along the Santa Monica Pier, where carnival rides, street performers, and ocean views await. Then, venture down to Venice Beach to experience its vibrant boardwalk scene, complete with eclectic shops, colorful murals, and the iconic Muscle Beach Gym.

Indulge in Local Eats
No trip to LA is complete without savoring its culinary delights. Treat yourself to an iconic In-N-Out Burger for a taste of classic American fast food, and be sure to hunt down one of the city’s famous taco trucks for an authentic Mexican feast.

Explore the Getty
Art enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the Getty Center, home to an impressive collection of European paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts. Perched atop a hill, the museum also offers stunning architecture and scenic gardens overlooking the city.

Discover Silver Lake and Echo Park
Venture beyond the tourist hotspots and explore the trendy neighborhoods of Silver Lake and Echo Park. Embracing the hipster lifestyle, these Eastside enclaves are filled with quirky shops, artisanal coffeehouses, and innovative eateries. Don’t miss the chance to stroll around the picturesque Echo Park Lake or catch a show at one of the indie music venues.

Enjoy your time in the City of Angels!
