Wow, legendary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama is even great at keeping secrets – As just released yesterday, the “Lady of Polka Dots”, will open her own museum in Tokyo this coming October.
The five-story museum, a white-walled & large-windowed building & designed by architectural firm Kume Sekkei – will have the artist`s most prominent works on display alongside her most-popular ( and hugely instagrammable) installations. The inaugural exhibition, “Creation is a Solitary Pursuit, Love is What Brings You Closer to Art,” is set to open already on October 1.
According to a spokesperson for David Zwirner Gallery, which works closely with the artist, confirmed the museum plan, but says Kusama “wanted to keep it as a surprise.”
Kusama’s fame, not at last on social media, is spectacular and her works are among the most-Instagrammed artworks worldwide. Just check #infinityroom if you don`t believe us.
