Last week, 23-year-old London painter Shadi Al-Atallah got an email from Yeezy’s people, asking for a commission based on photos.
At first, Al-Atallah thought it was a scam, but it was really Yeezy and the commission was to make a painting of this photo taken of the Kardashian Jenner sisters at Kylie’s 21st birthday taken last month, all flipping the bird:
The painting accompanies Kanye’s latest track XTCY, where he says a line about fantasizing of ‘smashing’ all of Kim’s sisters. That’s why this image?
The artist told Garage that “I don’t know how this happened. I just graduated, I don’t have any links to any industry—especially not the music industry, whatsoever. So I was in shock.”
She also said the reaction has been mixed because of how she portrayed the sisters – who are painted in a playful way. Kourtney was apparently the easiest to paint, but Kim was the hardest. “I just wanted to get her completely right because—Kanye,” she said.
