July is finally here and you know what that means? Summer! While a lot of us are still not sure about vacationing just yet, this summer is definitely going to be more fun than last year. So, to get you all excited for the best summer in a long time, here are some of our favourite artworks that scream summer vibes!
Le Futur by Julie Tuyet Curtiss
This lovely number by Julie Tuyet Curtiss is a modern reworking of George Seurat’s A Sunday On La Grande Jatte. Somehow those gorgeous nude bodies nestled amongst the bright colours just radiate heat.
A Bigger Splash by David Hockney
Is there any summer painting more iconic than David Hockney’s A Bigger Splash?! We think not! Perhaps the quintessential summer work, we can’t wait to get to the pool!
Calla Lily by Diego Rivera
Summer is the time when all our favourite flowers are in bloom. This lovely painting of a girl drowning in flowers by Diego Rivera melts our hearts. We also love her summer braids!
Impossible Garden by Cara Nahul
This painting kind of feels like what it’s been like over the past year and a bit. Stuck inside, while we are so desperate to get out. But normality is on the horizon, and we can’t wait to step outside.
Hope Is The Thing With Feathers by Amy Sherald
Nothing says summer like the beach, extra points for surfing too. This painting of surfers by the sea is getting us excited by the prospect of lying in the sand.
Floater 95 by Derrick Adams
We would all rather be in a pool right now. Lounging around in a massive floater like this is just the dream!
Brighter Days Are Here To Stay by Will Martyr
Lying in the sun in a bikini, completely alone, away from our smartphones is our idea of absolute bliss. This gorgeous painting by Will Martyr is our idea of heaven.
Lake Tahoe Trip by Slim Aarons
Summer is for fun with family and friends. Slim Aarons brilliantly encapsulates this in this snap of four girlfriends canoeing at Zephyr Cove. We just wish we could join them!
Yoga by Rui Ferreira
Nothing says luxury like being on a yoga retreat in the countryside on a hot summer’s day. This dreamy work by Rui Ferreira is a good example of the kind of wellness we’re all hunkering after this summer.
