All the Celebrities That You Missed in Venice

From Sienna Miller to Tilda Swinton, there were in fact celebrities descending upon the VIP preview week of the 58th Venice Biennale, curated by Ralf Rugoff. But beyond the press conferences, previews and cocktail parties, celebrities slithered through one particular party. Here is everything you missed.
Dior held its Tierpolo Ball, where Karlie Kloss and Derek Blasberg attended, as well as Cindy Sherman and Sienna Miller attended alongside her boyfriend Lucas Zwirner, alongside Tilda Swinton and Ellen von Unwerth shot the night (fun fact: Christian Dior invited Salvador Dali to design costumes for event performers at this very gala back in the day).  Dior artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri was also in attendance.

The charity dinner was co-hosted by the Venetian Heritage Foundation, artworks were donated by Anish Kapoor, Georg Baselitz, Vik Muniz and Edmund de Waal, all up for auction. It was themed around 18th century Venetian artist Giambattista Tierpolo, with all guests invited to wear costumes and matching masks to the themed ball. It was held at the Baroque 17th-century Palazzo Labia in Venice (and for the first one held in 1951 at this very same location, Orson Welles was in attendance).
The city of Venice has seen an onslaught of tourism over the past few decades, so it’s in need of repair in several locations. That’s why it’s great that the proceeds from this gala went to restore the ancient staircase designed by architect Mauro Codussi at the 13th-century Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista, as well as the frescoes at the city’s Galleria dell’Accademia.
