Let’s be honest, we could all do with a little bit of humour right now. And guess what, we’ve found the perfect artist to make you smile! Chris Akordalitis‘s new exhibition of oil paintings at Dio Horia in Mykonos, Greece is full of smiles, cheeky nudity and sunshine vibes.
Titled Between Worlds, Akordalitis’s body of work shows cartoonish figures licking peaches off of trees and making the most of the summer heat. Bringing a comic feeling, his characters – who swing out of windows naked and who show off their bad tan-lines while sunbathing – provide a much needed excuse to giggle during these very strange times.
Using comedy, Akordalitis reminds us about the bliss that simple things like being outside in the summer air and fresh fruits can provide for us. The seriously funny works tell us that no matter how stressed we are right now, the littlest pieces of joy will be enough to make us feel better, whether that’s picking a peach from a tree, sunbathing in your garden, or swinging out of your window half-naked.
The exhibition runs between July 10 and August 7.
