How The Fashion World Is Ripping Off The Artist’s Uniform
When paint splattered pants became chic
Art Stuff 04 Sep 2019

Merely a few decades ago, style queens wouldn’t be seen dead in “dirty clothes”, but now brands like OFF WHITE are releasing pieces covered in paint, with holes in and completely tattered (for a whopping £575). While it is usual for artists to find themselves covered in paint, they would never dream to think that their work gear would cost several hundreds (maybe even thousands of dollars), now though, they are for sale for big bucks.

When they started dressing in grandma sweaters…

Do you ever spend winter days (and nights) in your studio dressed in layer upon layer of your grandma’s old sweaters? All in a bid to cut costs on heating bills? Now the fashion world is laughing at us with these crazy creations…

When they began tie-dying everything…

We get it, you like to play with paint. So do generations after generations of artists. Wrap a belt around it and call it fashion.

When spray-painted clothes became a thing…

Because this isn’t a by-product of airbrushing or making work all day…

When wearing slippers outside the house became fashion…
