Meet This Instagram Preacher To Revive Your Career
“Is this shit that bad that you can’t have you a good day, bitch?”
Art Stuff 22 Dec 2020

Coming off a year like this, we’re all feeling a little less than 100%—tired, bloated, severely dehydrated and probably not very motivated to hit the ground running in 2021. Luckily, January tends to be fairly chill in the art universe, which makes this a wonderful time to do some dreaming and scheming to make. 2021. your. year.
To help get you fired up about all of the wonderful goals you’re about to reach and all the glass ceilings you’re about to smash, we called in a little support: Instagram’s (and Oprah`s) favorite motivator, Amber Wagner, a.k.a. @jstlbby.
She’s become a pretty unconventional preacher to more than 2 million Instagram followers and her sort of advice finally puts a face to the self-help and motivational that feels very inspirational.
Without further ado, stop what you’re doing and whip open your IG app and a notebook, because you’re gonna wanna write this down.

If you’re trapped in a cushy job that you secretly hate:

Dreamed of owning your own gallery and got stuck in an auction house along the process? No shame, but Amber’s here to remind you that sometimes going for your dreams takes feeling a ‘lil ~uncomfy~ in the process.

When you need a liiiitle push to make the next move:

Still thinking of a million reasons why you can’t quit the day job, take your side hustle to the next level, etc.? Listen to this.

When you know old habits and people are killing your vibe:

We all love our art girl gangs, but you can’t deny that there come times in life when the people who surround us start dragging us down when they should be pushing you to be the star you are. Been feeling some toxic vibes from someone in your clique lately? It could be time to cut the cord.

When you need a reminder of how good it feels when you finally crush your dreams:

You could visualize selling your first Warhol until you’re blue in the face… or you could listen to this.

When you’re trying to pick yourself up after a brutal setback:

Hey, not everything in life is going to work out the first time. Like your first kiss when both of you had braces. It just makes the result that much, um, sweeter when you finally hit the mark, ya feel?

When you need a little reminder to trust the process:

And at the end of the day, all you really have to do is remember how truly #blessed you are to be here, alive and breathing, and on top of that, to be working in the best industry in the world. Thanks universe!
