For their latest dizzying installation, Japanese collective teamLab just revealed an ocean inspired set up that is mind-blowing.
By creating a projected environment of waves and pretending infinity by countless mirrors, the work reacts to the movements of visitors. Titled “Moving Creates Vortices and Vortices Create Movement” the work is inspired in part by the life cycle of the ocean, particularly the movement of plankton all moving like whirlpools as visitors walk through the exhibition space. The speed and direction of one’s movement are all absorbed by the projections and by fading motion, the room gradually reverts to darkness.
The wavy installation just opened at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne where it will remain on view through April, 2018.
Also in Macao, a project by teamLab is currently on show at MGM casino, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the virtual world of the future.
