Art Basel Miami has just wrapped and so, it is now the unofficial beginning of the Art World Holiday Season™. We know that just because the art fair travel has finished, it doesn’t mean your social calendar is slowing down! You’ll be out and about, supporting your local artists and enjoying the holiday season. Remember, the real joy of all the festivities is sharing your own sparkle. As you gorgeous art girls galavant to fêtes around town, consider us your festive fairy godmother.
An art girl always has a cultured conversation starter…
Any well-prepared art girl has a few talking points on hand, be it a thoughtful comment about the latest exhibition she has attended or a funny story from an opening. Do you have a strong opinion on the $6.2 million banana? Why not get everybody’s take? Throw in: “What did you think of Basel?” or “Were you in Miami this year?” for good measure.
An art girl never shows up empty-handed…
For hostess gifts, think I.O.U. “inspiring or useful” (better if it can be both). As an art girl, it is your job to culture the others and share (*read “impose”) your impeccable taste! Now’s your chance to show off a local ceramic artist you love with a vase or serving platter or share an art book you just read. In the rare event that you’re out of creative ideas–we suggest embroidered cocktail napkins by Sarah Espeute, (if you’re not great with needle and thread yourself), making your own place cards, or bringing a kintsugi kit (because if we know one thing about holiday parties, it’s that plates always break).

An art girl knows how to put together a killer party outfit…
When it comes to holiday fashion, sparkles are always in style. A sparkly skirt can be paired with a multitude of blouses and jumpers and can go from day to night. Any girl can wear that look, but artsy girls know to pair this combination with statement accessories and heels with a pop of color. Now is your chance to pull out that vintage piece at the back of your jewelry box. The result is a look that’s chic, classy, and of course..artistic! Bonus points if you can also incorporate bows and ribbons, to emphasize that your presence is the real holiday present.
An art girl always notices the beauty around her…
Winter is objectively a beautiful season and we know you and your aesthetic sensibilities won’t miss it—even in the hustle and bustle. From the lights to the people to the snow, there is plenty of inspiration to be found at this time of year. Remember to take some time to rest, breathe, and gear up for a new year full of art world adventures!
