The 5 Cutest Posts From Lena Dunham And Jemima Kirke’s Friendship
“When she smiles, it’s like glitter raining on me”
Uncategorized 31 Jan 2020

Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke’s friendship is one we could only wish for. Of course they both starred together in Girls, but the artsy pair have actually known each other since they were kids. Both working as artists and actors, their friendship runs deep, supporting each other through the good times and the hard times, and always serving us insane levels of friendship goals. So, without further ado, here are their cutest virtual displays of affection.

When They Did Make-Up Together

Who needs a make-up-artist when you have a best friend? Your besties will always be there for you. That means getting ready with you, in your underwear and putting lippy on for you so that you look perrrrfect.

When They Celebrated the 9-Year Anniversary Of Lena’s Debut Film

The 9 year anniversary of Tiny Furniture’s release was this week, which means we shot that thing 10 years ago. By that point, Jemima and I had already been making stuff together for a decade- painting in the dusty attic art room at school, bedazzling neon clothes in her bedroom, reading the embarrassing plays I wrote in mine. When my father visited the set of the #Girls pilot, he teared up…not because it was so fancy, but because it just made him happy that Jem and I were still making art but now we were shutting down a SoHo street (legally!) We facetimed recently, Jem in her studio in Brooklyn, preparing for a show of new paintings and me in London, preparing to make my first film since we did that one in my bedroom a decade ago – kicking ideas around, talking shit and making each other go “oh my God!” We both said we felt lucky that through it all, we still get the luxury and the privilege of making art together. “We should really celebrate that more,” she said. So here she is, Jemima. I’d call her my muse but muses are passive. She’s more like my engine.

Work on Lena’s first film Tiny Furniture started 10 years ago (!!!). And guess who had a role? Jemima, of course! This cute montage shows the pair hugging, dancing and joking together. Lena’s caption even explains how her artist dad Carroll Dunham cried on the set of Girls because he was so proud that her and Jemima’s friendship had lasted so long. And to quote Lena: “Here she is, Jemima. I’d call her my muse, but muses are passive. She’s more like my engine.”

When They Wore Matching Outfits To The Met Gala

Nothing shows a solid display of unity like wearing matching outfits. Lena and Jemima both rocked Christopher Kane to the 2019 Met Gala. Playing up to the “camp” theme, they both looked fab, and had a totally great time together too!

When Lena Toasted Jemima At Her Baby Shower

Just look how sweet the girls are aged 23 and 24 at Jemima’s first baby shower. This cute throwback post by Lena explains that “when she smiles, it’s like glitter’s raining on me.” Someone pass us the tissues…

Who hasn’t shared a bed with their best girlfriend after a night out? We all have! The girls show that they’re there for each other, at any time of day or night.
