while you start dusting off spring outfits waiting for this cold to go away. and be ready for the long list of upcoming art events, here’s the news in the world of art and fashion this week.
1. balloon sculpture in Gucci style
Sometimes certain artists call our chillhood in a particular way, and this time Masayoshi Matsumoto, known for making recurring use of balloon sculptures, took it to another level, making narratives about the nature and elements of him in his particular style.
His universe ranges from setting sea snails on stage to beautiful flames, his sculptures are 100% balloons without the intervention of extras or glues. That’s what the artist says.
2. Penumbra @Fondazione In Between Art Film
The Fondazione In Between Art Film Penumbra first exhibition opens to the public on April 20, 2022 at the Ospedaletto and the Church of Santa Maria dei Derelitti in Venice, on the occasion of the 59th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia.
With the curatorship of Alessandro Rabottini and Leonardo Bigazzi—artistic director and curator of the Fondazione, it will present eight filmic works that address contemporary issues by different artists from different parts of the world in different ways.
“Penumbra” is an exhibition that seeks to be inspired by the air and atmosphere of Venice with nostalgia and shadows between the past and the present, almost as if it came out of an 18th century romance novel. The selected films, in a way, metaphorize all these elements. The almost total absence of “light”, each in its own style, playing and evoking gray as the main element.
Penumbra will be accompanied by a cross-disciplinary public program curated by Bianca Stoppani and Paola Ugolini—

3. Megane Brauer “Bound By Fire”
The exhibition-residence “Uni · e · s par le feu” takes as its starting point a story lived by Mégane Brauer when she was a child. Having grown up in precarious conditions, she was taken to live punctually in a home in Sonacotra for workers and families in an irregular situation. One night, while she was sleeping there, people set fire to the surrounding vegetation. This moment especially marked the artist, who recalls the burning cypresses that surround the building in the dark.
This artistic collaboration with various authors is also an opportunity to question copyright in the particular case of people in exile. For five weeks, there will be workshops that talk about the theme of identity, fire, the community, opening spaces for conversation and artistic creation, resulting in a production workshop or an artistic, social, and legal research laboratory.
4. Adidas x Swarovski
You know that collaborations are the fashion daily bread and the rarest they are, the more valued they should be… This week was not going to be the exception of strange fashion moments with this encounter between Adidas and Swarovski when the luxury and the delicate meets the sporty and basic to result in these particular pieces.
To sum up, a quite luxurious way to step on the field of soccer, worthy of tycoons of this sport. The model is named “PREDATOR EDGE” where the two brands promise first-class technology together with the luxury of crystals.
