Sterling Ruby Turns From Art To Fashion


Acclaimed artist Sterling Ruby – who has previously collaborated with Raf Simons – has just launched his own line called SR.Studio.LA.CA at Pitti Uomo in Milan. The artist-turned-designer’s debut collection paraded denim looks splattered in paint down the runway, and we are here for it.
 
Manolo Blahnik Gets London Exhibition


Everyone’s famous shoe designer just opened a new show at London’s Wallace Collection. An Enquiring Mind sees Blahnik’s shoes displayed amongst the collection’s artworks. The show runs until September.
 
Gagosian Gallery To Set Up Shop In Basel

#ArtBaselUnlimited: Ellen Gallagher and Edgar Cleijne's “Highway Gothic” (2017-19) is currently on view at Art Basel Unlimited. The installation consists of two 16mm film projections and cyanotype banners created on film strips, linen, and canvas. It explores the ecological, cultural, and social impact of the US Interstate 10 highway. In a recent interview with Adrienne Edwards for Gagosian Quarterly, Gallagher discusses the origins of her artistic practice. Gagosian has launched a pop-up space during the current edition of Art Basel, and once the fair is over, the gallery will become Gagosian’s 17th permanent exhibition space.
 
Frida Kahlo Rediscovered


We all know what Frida Kahlo looked like, what clothes she wore and the kind of art she made, but despite seeing videos of the art world icon, we don’t know what she sounds like, until now. But this may be all about to change, since tapes have been found in the National Sound Library of Mexico, which include the voice of Frida Kahlo reading her essay Portrait of Diego (her husband Diego Rivera) in 1954.

The new music video for Billie Eilish’s megahit Bad Guy appear to be remarkably similar to works by artist Maurizio Cattelan. The clip was directed by Dave Meyers, who has previously be sued for videos he directed for Ariana Grande and Kendrick Lamar, having been accused of plagiarizing artists.
 
Christo’s Arc de Triomphe Delayed


By now we’ve all heard of Christo’s plans to cover the Arc de Triomphe in recyclable fabric. His plans have now been delayed due to birds who nest in the monument. His intervention will now take place between September 19 and October 4.
 
Virgil Abloh Collaborates With Vitra


Mega-designer (and now curator) Virgil Abloh has just teamed up with design company Vitra. Coinciding with the launch of Art Basel, the team has launched a line of furniture.
