Okay, so William Wegman might be the ultimate dog photographer, but what about cats? For those who might not already know who Walter Chandoha is, now is your chance.
The photographer is having some of his best shots of cats released in a new TASCHEN book coming out this spring called Walter Chandoha. Cats. Photographs 1942–2018.

Imagine before the internet doing this job? Wow.
As the book publisher tells us, “In 1948, his life-changing encounter with a stray kitten blossomed into a career that elevated feline portraiture to an art form long before #catsofinstagram. This is a fitting tribute not just to these beguiling creatures but also to a remarkable photographer who passed away this year at the age of 98; and whose compassion can be felt in each and every frame.”

Well, he is for cats what William Wegman might be for dogs.
