The Art Gorgeous Guide to a Monthly Art Challenge
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just someone who loves all things creative
Uncategorized 16 Feb 2025

2025 is here, and what better way to embrace it than with The Art Gorgeous Monthly Challenge! Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just someone who loves all things creative, this guide is here to keep that artistic spark alive all year long.

January: Visit a Gallery

Beat the January blues and start the year with inspiration! Wander through the halls of a local gallery or a loved museum, or even venture out to discover hidden or new gems. Take a sketchbook, jot down notes, or simply soak in the atmosphere.

February: Watch an Art-Inspired Film

Celebrate creativity on screen by watching an art-inspired film this month. Whether it’s the story of an artist like Frida or the visually stunning masterpiece The Square, or a trip to the cinema to watch The Brutalist, a film about an architect’s journey, these stories offer a unique window into the world of a creative’s mind.

March: Read an Art inspired Book

This month step away from the screen and instead immerse yourself in a book that celebrates the world of art. Whether it’s John Berger’s classic Ways of Seeing, The White Pube’s bold and contemporary Poor Artists, or Philip Guston’s reflective I Paint What I Want to See, each offers a unique perspective to inspire. Give yourself the gift of unplugging this month —you’ll thank yourself for the break.

April: Try a New Medium

This month is all about trying something new. Step out of your comfort zone and explore a medium you’ve never used before. Trade your pencils for watercolours, embrace the rich aroma of oil paints, or give lino printing a go. You might just uncover a new passion waiting to be explored!

May: Host a DIY Art Night

Gather your friends, pour some wine (or tea), and let your inner Bob Ross shine. Pick a simple theme, share supplies, and let everyone create their own masterpiece. A group selfie with your finished artworks is a must!

June: Sketch Outdoors

Step outdoors and take your sketchbook to a park, a interesting street corner, or even your garden. Observe the world around you and capture it with quick, loose sketches. It’s the perfect way to sharpen your observational skills while soaking up the sun.

July: Attend a Workshop

Sign up for a workshop to learn a new skill! From pottery to abstract painting, there’s a class for every interest. Plus, you’ll meet fellow creatives and expand your network.

August: Create a Mini Series

Pick a theme—summer blooms, cityscapes, or even your morning coffee—and create a small series of artworks around it. It’s a fantastic way to explore a concept deeply and build a cohesive body of work.

September: Visit a Public Art Space

From street art in Soho to sculptures in the countryside, public art is everywhere! Embark on a walking tour or plan a day trip to uncover hidden creative treasures and see your surroundings in a whole new light.

October: Experiment with Digital Art

Why not take your creativity into the digital realm? Download a drawing app or try your hand at graphic design. It’s an exciting (and undo-friendly) way to explore art!

November: Journal Your Art Journey

Reflect on your creative growth by starting an art journal. Document your favourite works, ideas, and inspirations. Include sketches, photos, and quotes to make it uniquely yours.

December: Create a Year-End Masterpiece

End the year by creating a heartfelt, homemade piece of art to gift to a loved one. Whether it’s a painted canvas or a handmade ornament, let your creativity be your gift.
