Art fairs are stressful, fun and exhausting, but they’re also hard on your pocket, from overpriced food and coffee, to the expensive locations, and parties. Here are some tips on how to save some money at art fairs:
– Book in advance, as early as you can!
– Travel with a budget airline, because who needs legroom.
– Stay in an Airbnb or check hostels they do nice single rooms, sometimes, even double rooms.
– Go with someone else so you can split the costs of your accommodation.
– If staying in a big city – New York, London or Paris – check places that are less central and more off the beaten track, you may end up finding a nice bargain.
– If in a smaller city, with fewer options, like Basel, really try to do it in advance, but there are always those that stay in France and drive to the fair everyday… seems excessive but if on a budget it might be worth it.
– Eat smart, have a filling breakfast/brunch before hitting the fair, to avoid the overpriced food.
– If you’re really on a tight budget, heck, pack some food.
