Celebrated artist Alexis Ralaivao has just been commissioned to make artwork for Valentino’s latest campaign. The new collection of paintings were made for the Valentino Collezione Milano collection and Alexis’s works on canvas feature dreamy snapshots of women caressing their favourite Valentino piece: the statement handbag.
The artist created four works for the luxury Italian house; cropped portraits that focus on how women interact with their beloved handbag. “This project was a fantastic surprise! I always wanted to do this kind of project, doing it with one of the best Maison de Couture, I couldn’t be happier”, says Alexis via Selections Art, “In my body of work you can see that I love painting clothes, specially shoes, moccasin. I’ve been wanting to paint a bag for a long time and this was the perfect opportunity!” Alexis’s painting is an homage to Valentino’s Garavani Roman Stud Top Handle bag, and if you didn’t want one before, you sure will now!
Valentino has also commissioned four other painters to contribute their artworks for the campaign – Zhang Zihao, Iori Nagashima, Nahum Kim and Louise Giovanelli – each being invited to paint an accessory of their choice from the Collezione Milano collection. We just love this #ValentinoOnCanvas initiative, and can’t wait to see what’s next!
