The Future of Feminity and Cheetos on Top
Artist, Seattle, WA

YASSA is a visual artist in all capacities. Coming from Syrian & Armenian roots and having moved to US with her parents when she was little, she loves to tie in culture with women’s rights, the future of feminity and pop culture. What a background! She loves pink and glitter but also to let her body hair grow. She is the best example for how to be successful by grooming a healthy self-love. Her primary focus is on illustration, she dabbles in paint, installation and video production. Bouncing around from the East to West Coast since high school, she is now settled in Seattle.

Oh yes and wouldn’t mind a life long sponsorship of Cheetos…

In the art world currently I find most exciting that…
That everything is so D.I.Y , people are turning nothing into something and it is headed towards are more punk way of creating.

Number of unanswered mails in your account…
Today I have 13,8226 but ones I will ACTUALLY respond to are five. I have like 4 different emails , I feel like a crazy person trying to keep up.

My perfect working outfit…
Honestly, when I am at home working on art I will either be naked or in my pajamas. Ideally , I wear this big colorful mumu thing my grandmother gave me.

My favourite new brand discovery…

Like actual brands, I have been really vibing with the new Melody Ehsani stuff. Their T-Shirt graphics and the jewelry is so cute too. I also really enjoy POAM (print all over me) site where I just bought a copious amount of stuff I want but don’t need.

My everyday online art read is…
I really just like to head over to Mari Andrew page , i know it is not specifically a read but her illustrations involve writing which is so good. I also love to check out reorient mag , because they focus on middle eastern artists which is very inspiring to me.

My necessary extravagance is…

I love overpriced face masks and I can NEVER go without my nails done. I also always want to make sure I have a new fur coat every season even if I never wear it.

Most ridiculous thing I’ve ever bought…
I can’t really say only because I shop WAY to much. I know that I love to buy weird ass childrens toys at the dollar store so , I have a collection of weave crowns hidden in storage.

My ultimate secret after long working hours…
Honestly , all you need is cheetos and water. Well not others, but I know thats the case for me. A gallon of water, a bag of hot cheetos and a really good scented candle.
My favourite collaboration of the art- and fashion world…

Hmmm.. Trouble Andrews collab with Gucci was super inspiring to me. He designed their whole last season with dope as purses and beautiful sweaters , jackets with his GucciGhost design. It showed that if you want something & work consistently at it you will receive it. Most brands might be upset but Gucci totally embraced his creativity , thats sick.

My favourite hashtag…

On my office table I always have…
Tarot cards , ALWAYS. Also pelon instant coffee packet , my prayer book and some crystals.

The most arty city is…
Every city is arty, in its own way. I think more metropolitan places will be recognized cause they just have that attention like NY or LA, but thats also pretty cliche.Somewhere in Italy is going to be the most “Arty” because of all the cathedrals and the imagery inside of them is just incredible. Classic paintings ,classic clothes, classic architecture … real art.

Who are the best dressed in the art world…

Solange has been going in aesthetically lately and it’s very beautiful. I also look up to Julia Sarr -Jamois who always is so casual but CUTE AF. We also cannot forget , Cardi B.

Art world gent I would love to have lunch with…
I actually have a solid list of three people , but two of them are my peers so I won’t embarrass myself. 🙂 Salvador Dali is definitely one that I can name.

Artist(s) we should have on our watch list is/are…
Hmmm… some great talent Ari King , Malcolm Procter , Lourdes Jackson , Anissa Amalia , Raychelle ( @bombchelle) , Mark Idric , and last but not least BVHUTCH who is realest artist if I ever seen one.
