George Michael’s Art Collection up for Grabs

The estate of British pop singer and Wham! Superstar George Michael is auctioning 200 works from his private art collection at Christie’s in London next month.

There are a number of YBA artworks, a commissioned portrait by Michael Craig-Martin and countless 1990s artworks. The prices will range from $500 to $1.9m.

“The art collection of George Michael reflects the friendships built between one of the U.K.’s most acclaimed musical artists and the visual artists who were creating artworks at a seminal moment in British cultural history,” Michael’s trustees said in a statement.
“Philanthropic work was hugely important for George during his lifetime and it was his wish that this work would continue after his passing.”
