The world is waking up to the very real dangers of climate change, and the fashion pack are also listening up. Therefore, Italian super-house Missoni decided to team up with eco-conscious artist Olafur Eliasson for their latest runway show during Milan Fashion Week.
Top labels are now being forced to think about sustainability because – I hate to break it to you sisters – the fashion industry is terrible for the environment. So, for this new collection, Angela Missoni took inspiration from the light of our lives: the sun. And those lucky enough to attend were gifted with solar lamps from Olafur Eliasson in their goodie bags, with the models parading them in their hands during the runway’s finale.
The lamps will soon be on sale, with money raised going toward lighting off-grid communities in Ethiopia Senegal and Zimbabwe – something we can definitely get behind. The note accompanying the lamps at the show stated “join us in holding hands with the sun.” (Just mind you don’t get burnt!)

Overall the collection was typical Missoni, think knits, long dresses and florals. All the kind of clothes we want to be wearing on the Riviera in the summertime. And, with an eco-spin, we can feel a little better about supporting an industry that has a lot of work to do when it comes to saving our planet.
